About us

The Adapted Sports Hub Trust evolved from the partnership and collaboration of 3 local community organisations; Hockey Club, Little Discoverers & Little Miracles.
As founding Trustees and through our connections to the local community, we had come to realise that there was no such facility in the area that could provide sporting or community facilities to accommodate individuals or families who experienced severe learning difficulties or disability. As a result, such groups were denied the opportunity for a safe and adapted space and unable to access sport fully.

At the heart of our mission was the belief that every child, their family and carers, have a fundamental right to access sport, to be a part of its community and fulfil the best life they can.
It was the aim of the Trustees to reduce isolation, build community networks, and provide comprehensive support to all Hub users without distinction of gender, sexual orientation, race, nationality or religious beliefs.
And so the Trustees (with the support of the local government, council and community) embarked upon the project to bring the dream of the Adapted Sports Hub to reality.

Our Trustees

Nicola Pluck

Before qualifying as a Solicitor, Nicola served in the British Army in both operational and peace time roles in the UK and abroad.

Nicola went on to read law in Cambridge gaining a first-class degree with honors. She then completed her training and gained her legal experiences in Norfolk. She is now the director of Burridge & Pluck Solicitors Ltd.

Outside of her legal career, Nicola devotes her time to her family.Nicola is also the Honorary Secretary for Pelicans Hockey Club, Social Secretary for the King’s Lynn & West Norfolk Law Society and has recently accepted a role as Trustee of the Adapted Sports Hub Trust.

Nicola is passionate about the Adapted Sports Hub project and fundamentally believes every child young adult and their family should be able to access sports and all of the positive benefits it will bring.

As Trustee along with her fellow trustees, we hope to nurture a culture of trust, transparency, and accessibility and will strive to bring the project to a reality.

Michelle King

Michelle King is the mother of three children, the eldest of whom is severely disabled with a life-limiting condition. As a direct result of her experiences, lacking the necessary family support, she founded Little Miracles Charity.

For the past 15 years, Michelle has been the CEO of Little Miracles Charity, an organization dedicated to supporting families with children who face disabilities and life-limiting conditions. With a passion for making a difference, Michelle has led the charity from its humble beginnings as a small parent support group to a national entity with multiple branches, reaching over 45,000 individuals annually. Under her leadership, Little Miracles has not only expanded its reach but also its service offerings, focusing on providing holistic support to enhance the lives of children and families.

In 2023, the charity opened a branch of Little Miracles in Kings Lynn. It is dedicated to building a home for themselves in the town and bringing sporting opportunities to families with disabled children.

Katie Fisher

Katie worked in the NHS for 39 years as a Paediatric Physiotherapist.

She set up the charity Little Discoverers in 2002 to address the problem in West Norfolk of a lack of therapists. Children’s potential is only realised if they receive early intervention to improve all aspects of their development, physical, communication and social skills.

Weekly multi sensory sessions are provided for complex children, based on the principles of Conductive Education from the Peto Institute in Hungary and a support network for the parents developed.

Until we outgrew our premises after 18years, we ran our sessions from Lynnsport which speaks of activity, keeping fit, having fun and being a part of the community.

Needing a bigger space Katie started working with Charles Lankfer, President of the Pelicans, then later Michelle King CEO of Little Miracles, to realise the aim of a purpose built hub at Lynnsport. Gradually we concluded we should be aiming to support not only these groups but the wider community of people, who because of disability or other reasons were unable to access sport or activities to keep fit.

We have designed a facility that will be fully accessible, with 21century changing facilities and specialised facilities. To this end The Adapted Sports Hub charity was born and set up in 2022.
