The Building and Purpose

The Hub will be built and situated at Lynnsport next to the Hockey Pitches and close to the Tennis courts.

The building has a bespoke design which makes it fully accessible, multi-functional, and environmentally friendly.

The interior will include;

There will be easy access, adapted facilities and a designated disabled access car park

In addition to the adapted and disability friendly facilities, the Hub will also benefit the wider community including but not limited to hockey and tennis participants.

With over 100 local members, Pelicans Hockey Club promote physical and mental wellbeing through competitive and social hockey. The club is introducing the Hockey Flyerz program for disability hockey and has future plans for walking hockey, both of which will be well-supported by our new facility.

Environmental
impact

Our building’s Planning Approval mandates that it does not negatively impact the environment. To support this, we ensure that all materials are sourced sustainably. For example, all timber used is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified, guaranteeing it comes from sustainable and socially beneficial sources.

Key Eco-Build features being reviewed during the detailed design stage include:

Building Regulations influence the use of these Eco-Build solutions. An SBEM (Simplified Building Energy Model) calculation is being conducted early in the design phase to produce a predicted energy assessment, allowing for design adjustments to maximize environmental efficiency. Additionally, a ‘Predicted EPC’ (Energy Performance Certificate) is being prepared before construction to support the SBEM calculation.
